New Arizona Teen Driving Law Is Good News for Teens, Parents and Driving Schools

(PRWEB) October 1, 2008 -- According to Arizona Stop and Go Driving School owner Joe Zahara, the main draw for students is that they are now able to get their driving permits a full month earlier than the previous law allowed.

"The thing is, kids want to start driving as early as possible, but at the same time allowing them to get their permit earlier gives them more practice time," said Zahara.

Additionally, the new regulation calls for increased driver training and implements a graduated license on which teenagers have a nighttime curfew and other limitations in the first six months after being licensed. New teen drivers are prohibited from driving from midnight until 5 a.m. and may have no more than one teenage passenger.

According to Zahara, these new safety precautions are good news for parents hoping for fewer teen accidents.

For driving schools like Stop and Go Driving, the new laws also mean more business. The law requires that teen drivers have 40 hours of supervised driving, ten of those hours being at night. The reality is that many parents don't have the time or the patience to do that, but students who go through training programs like the one offered at Stop and Go Driving get those hours waived, and at the same time they get instruction from qualified instructors in cars equipped with safety features like dual breaks and dual mirrors. The school can also give each student their Instructional Permit and Drivers License without going to the MVD to take the written and road test.

Historically, teens have the worst driving records and accrue more accidents than almost any other group of motorists. Hopefully, the new regulations, coupled with qualified driving programs can improve the statistics.

"We have seen a huge increase in the amount of teens attending our driving school in the past year, and proper training is vital for road safety. We see the new law as another very important means of steering dangerous driving behavior within a group that is the most at risk," concluded Zahara.
